Eiki is our beautiful Blue and Gold Macaw.
The name "Eiki" is an Icelandic nickname for "Eirikur" (Erik), and is pronounced like "Icky" (which was her original name at the pet store when we got her). We brought "Icky" home from the pet store the day after our honeymoon on January 23rd, 1999. However, after we brought her home, we had some DNA tests run and found out that she was definitely a female, but by then, the name "Eiki" had already stuck!
When we got her, Eiki was estimated to be about 2 years old, so right now she is about old, and will hopefully live about 50-80 years.
Eiki says "Hello", "Buh-Bye", "Pretty Bird", "What?", "Whatever!", gives kisses, and makes lots of other sounds that she learned from the pet store (puppy barks, burps, and other noises and words that we are not yet quite sure what she is saying!) Right now, Eiki is trying to learn how to say "I Love You" and "Gimme a Kiss..." and hopefully even more after she learns how to say that!
Eiki is very affectionate, and loves to be cuddled!
